Toy Cup and Saucer c1825 Maker: Minton  Pattern:Cottage and Cart
Toy Cup and Saucer c1825
Quite delightful cup and saucer with lovely rural scene of a man in a horse and cart, before a country cottage, all within a pretty floral border. The cup has a hairline, noticeable mainly from the inside, and the saucer has a small chip and crack to the rim, otherwise both pieces still bright and clean. A toy cup and saucer in this design were exhibited at the True Blue exhibition of British blue transfer printed earthenware at The Wedgwood Museum in 1998, when they were attributed to the Cambrian or Glamorgan Potteries at Swansea, under the pattern name of The Carter. This teacup and saucer have no maker's backstamp, but we believe they are more correctly attributed to Minton. The shape and design are both associated with that factory. Provenance: The Patricia Davies Collection.
Dimensions: Cup 6.5 cm diameter, 4.5 cm high, saucer 10 cm / Cup 2.5 ins diameter, 1.75 ins high, saucer 4 ins
