Meat Dish or Platter c1820 Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Chinoiserie Bridgeless
Meat Dish or Platter c1820
This attractive pierced oval dish may have been the stand for a large basket, but it makes a fine small platter today. No maker's backstamp, The glaze is crazed and from the printing there is some blue smudging here and there. There is a little minor wear and small hairline to the rim and a few minor manufacturing faults which have been glazed over. Overall a lovely platter sounding much worse than it looks.

Basket c1820 Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Chinoiserie Bridgeless
Basket c1820
A rare survivor from another age, sometimes called a chestnut basket or a fruit basket. This one is large, so perhaps the latter. The moulding and detail to the decoration display outstanding craftmanship. Chinoiserie Bridgeless is also known as Hermit pattern and is a direct copy from original Chinese porcelain. It was produced by Davenport, Minton, Don Pottery, Ralph Stevenson and at least four unknown makers. This basket is by one of the unknown makers. It is in amazing condition with just a tiny tiny rub to one of the pierced panels, otherwise excellent. It is printed with the border pattern to the foot and around the outside and inside of the rim with the full scene printed inside to the base.

Dinner Plate c1810 Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Chinoiserie Bridgeless
Dinner Plate c1810
This pattern, particularly associated with Davenport and Minton, was in fact made by several makers and is also known as Hermit and Man in Doorway. This plate has a distinctive version of the design, but the maker has not been identified. This pattern is discussed in Minton Printed Pottery by Geoffrey Priestman and a similar plate is ilustrated on page 53, plate 4.11. On the rim there is a tiny chip at 11 o'clock and a few rubs and nicks, plus a small glazing fault on the border. Just in the bowl is a short firing crack, which occurred during manufacture. All really minor and a bright and clean plate in good condition. No maker's backstamp. Provenance: The personal collection of Gresham Copeland, passing by descent to his son Robert Copeland. Collection identification label on back AGC 88. This plate is illustrated in Spode's Willow Pattern by Robert Copeland page 157, plate 27, where it is attributed to Davenport.

Drainer c1815
An early example of a popular chinoiserie design, usually associated with Davenport and Minton, although other makers made it and it is also known as Hermit and Man in Doorway. This is a large drainer of good quality equal to the wares of both Davenport and Minton, but made by neither. The glaze is finely crazed and there are some knife marks to the face and rubs to the rim through use, but overall this is in lovely condition and displays beautifully. No makers backstamp.
