Maker: Adams Pattern:Native Meat Dish or Platter c1815 Made by William Adams of Stoke, active 1804-1829. Native is a delightful rural scene believed to depict Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby known as The Ladies of Llangollen who lived together in North Wales from 1790 to 1831. This pattern was made later by Pratts and subsequently by Cauldon. No backstamp. There is a little surface scratching, some wear to a couple of areas of the outer rim and the occasional minor blemish, overall excellent condition. Maker: Adams Pattern:Native Dinner Plate c1825 Made by William Adams of Stoke, active 1804-1829. Native is a delightful rural scene with two ladies standing by their horses, while a man kneeling offers them fish, recently caught in the river behind. The scene is believed to depict Lady Eleanor Butler and Miss Sarah Ponsonby known as The Ladies of Llangollen who lived together in north Wales from 1790 to 1831. This pattern was made later by Pratts and subsequently by Cauldon. Impressed backstamp ADAMS. Provenance: The personal collection of Gresham Copeland, passing by descent to his son Robert Copeland.
