Dinner Service part c1927
With gilt. Richly patterned this is a gorgeous set. Comprises of covered vegetable dish, sauce boat and stand, 5 x 6.25" dessert bowls, 4 x 7.5" plates, 4 x 9.5" soup plates, 6 x 9.5" plates. There is a little light crazing to the base of the vegetable dish. Most of the pieces have some crazing but this set remains bright and clean with the gilt beautifully intact. Most plates impressed with the date for 1927. This would make delightful instant dresser decoration. Brown printed backstamp Bridgwood over anchor with England and Indian Tree beneath. Pattern number in script 8/682.

By Elkin Knight & Bridgwood or one of the other Elkin, Knight partnerships of The Foley Potteries, Fenton. A magnificent centre-piece bowl, with broad foot and attractive indented rim. Printed in a soft blue with vignette scenes of Hannibal's historic crossing of the Alps, complete with the famous elephants, all set within trellis and floral borders. Typical blue printed cartouche backstamp with the name of the pattern in a ribbon beneath. The glaze is finely crazed and there has been a tiny knock to one of the points on the rim, but barely noticeable and overall in excellent condition.

By Elkin Knight & Bridgwood or more likely by one of the other later Elkin, Knight partnerships of The Foley Potteries, Fenton. Printed in green with two scenes of Hannibal's historic crossing of the Alps, complete with the famous elephants, all set within trellis and floral borders, which here is than usual, perhaps to fit the smaller piece. No maker's backstamp. Possible partial hairline or stress crack at base of handle, where it joins the body. Some scuffing and a small old chip under the foot rim, but all minor. Overall excellent condition.

Small stand for a sauce tureen of The Haining Selkirkshire, a seat about one mile south of Selkirk in the Borders (Scotland) Backstamp: Pre Victorian Coat of Arms Irish Scenery Elkins & Co. Elkins & Co is the name used on Irish Scenery by the Elkin Knight & Elkin partnership and later Elkin Knight & Bridgwood. A gorgeous little piece but it does have wear and discolouration to the outer rim and back and just a hint of discolouration to the face.

Meat Dish or Platter small Near Patterdale c1825
Elkin and Knight used various partnership styles, but this series is usually attributed to Elkin, Knight & Co of The Foley Potteries, Fenton, Staffordshire. There are about a dozen different views in the series and this one Near Patterdale, appears to be previously unrecorded. Patterdale is a small village on the edge of Ullswater in the English Lake District. Backstamp: blue printed rock cartouche with NEAR PATTERDALE. The glaze is sound. There are a few nicks or signs of wear on the rim and a couple of the stilt marks are quite noticeable, but all very minor as this is a most attractive dish in excellent condition.

Blue printed Rock Cartouche backstamp with Lancaster within and impressed Elkin Knight mark.

Elkin Knight & Bridgwood of The Foley Potteries, Fenton. Byland Abbey lies about 8 miles east of Thirsk in Yorkshire and was founded in 1138 for Cistercian monks. The ruins shown are the long nave and short transepts. Backstamp: Byland Abbey, Yorkshire. Light all over crazing with some discolouration although this is mainly on the back and a little wear and discolouration to the outer rim. Also has a hairline to the rim. Sounds much worse than it looks!

Made by John King Knight of Fenton, active 1846 to 1853. Large dramatic plate and in centre alovely romantic scene with Swiss overtones, within a geometric and floral border. The glaze is crazed and there are a couple of very minor glaze blemishes, but a fine plate, which looks virtually perfect on display. Impressed backstamp of lion and unicorn supporting shield, contains the words Opaque Felspar China with initials KE&Co for Knight Elkin & Co, who preceeded Knight. Blue printed backstamp with lion and unicorn supporting shield with Geneva and J.K.K

This is amazing, an extremely large and wonderful meat dish with fabulous wide floral border surrounding the central classical scene. Backstamp: De Fete K E & Co. Light all over crazing with just a hint of minor discolouration. There is a little wear and discolouration to the outer rim and two tiny spots on the face lacking glaze. Overall absolutely fine.
