|Maker: Gildea and Walker Pattern:Regent
Meat Dish or Platter c1884
Made by Gildea & Walker of Dale Hall Works, Longport, Burslem, who were preceeded by Bates, Gildea & Walker, who registered this design on 12 April 1880 under three patents 348606-8 (three different colour ways?). Printed in a gray blue, the design has been dramatically hand painted in lustre colours of orange, red, blue and green; quite stunning. The glaze is crazed and lightly stained, but mainly on the back. Otherwise good condition. Blue printed backstamp of circle containing kneeling boy, Regent and B G & W, with late Mayers beneath. Printed registration diamond. Impressed Gildea & Walker and date mark for February 1884. Pattern number A 7863 in script.
Dimensions: Oval 54 x 42 cm / Oval 21 x 16.5 ins
