|Maker: Goodwins and Harris Pattern:Imperial Filigree
An extremely ornate teapot with superb moulded detail to the spout, handle and feet. Backstamp: printed Lion over Crown, No 10 Imperial Filigree GH for Goodwins and Harris of Lane End, Staffordshire active 1831 to 1838. This pot has had a very active life! It is crazed with staining, mainly inside and under the spout. There is small hairline to the rim by the handle join, another to the body and a small stress one inside. Signs of wear to the rim, the handle and the rim of the spout but overall a lovely example of a 19th century teapot. An identical teapot is illustrated in A Directory of British Teapots by Berthoud & Maskell on page 270, where it is described as later oval shape, four footed with dolphin handle and attributed to Goodwins & Harris of Lane End, Staffordshire.
