Maker: Meir Pattern:Laconia Meat Dish or Platter c1845 This magnificent large platter was made by John Meir & Son of Greengates Pottery, Tunstall and the design Laconia appears not have been previously recorded. It depicts two ladies and a girl in a romantic classical setting. There is some light crazing to the glaze, with the occasional spot of light stain or glaze blemish. Overall excellent condition with bright glaze and it displays beautifully. Blue printed cartouche backstamp with lion, crown and unicorn, Laconia in shield, with J M & S in ribbon beneath.
