Ewer c1830 Maker: Meir  Pattern:The British Flora
Ewer c1830
A beautiful floral design with the added pleasure of two magnificent butterflies. This ewer was made by John Meir of Greengates Pottery, Tunstall, Staffordshire, active 1812 to 1836. The design is quite rare, despite being so attractive. This ewer is in excellent condition. There is some fine crazing to the glaze, which needs close examination to detect and minor stress or hairline cracks around the handle join, which likewise. A couple of minor chips or nicks under the foot. The flying strap at the base of the handle says it all, as it is intact and undamaged, which signifies that this ewer is as near perfect as you will ever find. No makers backstamp.
