Meat Dish or Platter c1820 Maker: Minton  Pattern:Monks Rock Series
Meat Dish or Platter c1820
This is an absolutely fabulous pattern surrounded by a wide floral border. No backstamp. There is a little surface scratching and two manufacturing faults one of which has resulted in a small hole which is on the right hand side of the face. The other is on the curve of the rim in the form of a small unglazed area. There is also some wear to part of the outer rim. Sounds much worse than it looks, overall this is a stunning piece.

Soup Tureen Stand Anonymous Inn c1815 Maker: Minton  Pattern:Monks Rock Series
Soup Tureen Stand Anonymous Inn c1815
This is a fabulous stand with quite deeply canted sides. No backstamp. Crazed with a little discolouration, although this is mainly on the back. There are one or two bits of grit in the glaze and a little loss of glaze to one of the stilt marks. On the back there is some wear to the foot rim including a couple of very small chips. Oh dear, makes this piece sound awful, when in reality it's absolutely delightful.

Soup Tureen c1815 Maker: Minton  Pattern:Monks Rock Series
Soup Tureen c1815
Widely considered to be one of Mintons finest engraved patterns, Monks Rock is a series of rural scenes named after the first scene to be identified. In a shape that was used uniquely for this pattern, this magnificent tureen is complete with cover, stand and original ladle. The tureen has the castle, thatched cottage and man with horse view on both sides outside and the classical ruin with shepherd inside. The cover has the three cottages with three beehives and cart and horse scene. The stand is decorated with The Anonymous Inn view. The ladle has the floral border in the bowl and a lovely claw detail where the handle attaches to the bowl. No makers backstamp as is typical with this pattern. This beautiful set is as near perfect as can be after nearly 200 years of life. In detail, the cover has a couple of minor glaze defects and minor rubs and small flake of glaze off the finial and a tiny chip on the inner flange. The tureen has a few minor rubs to the rim. The stand has a small chip under the rim, which just shows through and minor signs of use. The glaze on all three pieces is sound and really bright and clean. The ladle is undamaged, but the glaze is crazed with some associated staining and it looks as if the handle was used to stir hot soup at some stage! Overall, certainly a conversation piece if not a conversation stopper. A superb example of the skill of both the engravers and potters of early transfer printed wares.
