Oval sauce tureen with cover and stand. Stand and tureen bear the Worcester date mark for 1884. Gilt decoration to the handles of the tureen and cover a little worn. Small hairline to handle of cover. Minor signs of wear to the rims. Stand measures 9 ins x 10.25 ins

Where to begin to describe this amazing piece! The side handles on the tureen are ornate elephant heads complete with large gilt rimmed ears and tusks! The finial on the cover is more complex! The main part are the heads of two large big billed birds back to back and almost joined together with an oriental clasp. The handle is then joined to the cover by two vicious looking talons! Both tureen and cover in amazing condition with just a little wear to the gilt but this gives a lovely burnt orange edge to it. Printed Worcester marks for 1896 plus the printed retailers mark "Manufactured for William Whiteley Westbourne Grove London".

Royal Worcester bone china. A most unusual dish with brown floral decoration and turquoise rims. Has a decorative "knot" finial to the cover. Date coded for 1894. Also has the retailers mark of Henry Greene & Sons 153 & 155 Cannon Street, London Bridge. The base has some fine crazing and the cover has three faint hairlines.
