Bowl with Foot c1820 Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Milkmaid and Cattle and Ruins
Bowl with Foot c1820
An attractive small footed bowl of particular interest as the outside is decorated with a version of the Milkmaid pattern and inside the bowl is the central scene from a completely different design: Cattle and Ruins. The border design inside the bowl is a bold floral design and on the foot is an Oriental pattern. Milkmaid was made by Spode and at least six other makers and Cattle and Ruins is sometimes attributed to Enoch Wood. There is no backstamp so the maker of this bowl remains elusive. There is some crazing to the glaze, a small restored chip to the rim and two minor areas of restoration inside the bowl. Overall in good condition and looks perfect and beautiful on display; its small proprtions adding to its charm.
