Tankard c1820 Maker: Unattributed Maker  Pattern:Swans Deer and Horses
Tankard c1820
The name of this pattern is a given one, although it also seems to be known as Summer Palace at Peking, although no maker has been identified. The design is certainly Chinese in style, although the Palace does have a hint of Hatfield House. A treacle pot in this design was displayed at the True Blue exhibition 1998 and the existence of a treacle pot would suggest that the maker was based in Yorkshire. There are two chips under the foot rim, which just show through, but otherwise excellent condition, with bright sound glaze. No makers backstamp.
