This is the plain blue version of Mayfair. There is another version with ochre rim and another with added colour. Lovely shape, generous moulding and gorgeous knop to the cover. Beautiful display piece.

This is such an attractive shape of jug. The gently moulded body stands on a shaped foot and the handle and spout have attractive embossed detail. The ochre rim is gadrooned giving a pretty crinkly rim. Light crazing otherwise fine.

Teapot Cosy shape c1920s
This is a rare shape of teapot made by Wood & Sons to a patented design registered by Abram Allware Ltd. Abram obtained patents for their teapots in 1922-25 and the Cosy name was also a registered trade mark. Apart from the shape of the pot, the novel features appear to be the fixing of the lid on the pot and the design of the gate, which is integral to the lid. The printed backstamp is mainly taken up with the registration and patent details for Britain, USA and Canada. This pot is in excellent condition.

A large early example of this popular Woods pattern, with blue transfer printed design of Asiatic Pheasant in floral setting, hand painted colours of brown, green, yellow and mauve, with brown and blue gadroon rim. A few lines of craze in the glaze, but generally sound, a minor nick or under rub the rim, overall bright and clean. Typical blue printed Woods backstamp, impressed date mark for September 1919 and pattern number 1685 in script. It is rare to find these large meat platters today.

There is a little wear to the rim of the dish and tiny blemish to the rim of the cover, overall excellent condition.

A pretty early example of this popular Woods pattern, with blue transfer printed design of Asiatic Pheasant in floral setting, hand painted colours of brown, green, yellow and mauve, with brown and blue gadroon rim. There is a short stress crack affecting the join of the finial to the lid. It is barely noticeable on the outside and appears to have occurred during manufacture. Otherwise the set is virtually as new. Typical blue printed Woods backstamp, impressed date mark for 1919 and pattern number 1685 in script. It is rare to find a complete sauce tureen from the earliest days of this design.

With gilt. A stunning tureen complete with stand, cover and large ladle. It has ornate side handles and extremely decorative finial to the cover. The ladle has pattern inside bowl and gilt line decoration to the stem. Backstamp: Mayfair Woods Ware Enoch 1784 Ralph 1759 Wood & Sons England and impressed date for 1927 on the stand. There is a small minor firing fault to the rim of the ladle bowl otherwise excellent condition.
