For many years, because of the scene this pattern was called Italian Church. It was then recognised as the church at Waterloo in Belgium, where the great battle was fought in 1815. The design was introduced about 1822 and used mainly on tea and breakfast sets.

There is a small restoration to the rim otherwise really excellent condition.
